The Season of Major Events Begins in Paris and Florence09 February, 2024
February sees the start of an intensive exhibition program in the Italian wine world, and Ricasoli is no exception. The first major international fair featuring Brolio wines this year is Wine Paris – Vinexpo, from February 12th to 14th, the fifth edition of the fair hosted at the Paris Port de Versailles exhibition space. The French exhibition is acquiring increasing importance for Italy too. This year, Italy is the second most represented country after France, with an entire pavilion and over 75% more companies than in 2022. Ricasoli will participate for the first time with its own space within the area of the Chianti Classico Consortium in Pavilion 2.2. (Booth 150). On April 12th, Vin Santo Castello di Brolio 2012 will take center stage in a blind tasting led by Raimonds Tomsons, named Best Sommelier of the World in 2023. Immediately afterwards, the Chianti Classico Collection will be held at the Stazione Leopolda in Florence, moved to Thursday 15th and Friday 16th February, with the public opening on the Friday. It is a special event that heralds the celebrations of the 100 years of the Denomination, expected in May. On this occasion, in addition to the Vin Santo and the Extra Virgin Olive Oil Castello di Brolio, two gems very dear to the company, Ricasoli shines the spotlight, in its space among the producers of the UGA Gaiole, on the Chianti Classico and the Chianti Classico Riserva Brolio, the 2022 and 2021 vintages respectively.
Both vintages are complex in terms of climate, the 2022 for the prolonged summer drought, the 2021 for an April frost followed by an exceptionally warm spring, but both also surprising in terms of the quality now found in the glass. Brolio 2022 is ruby red in color, with hints of red fruit and balsamic notes, while on the palate it is soft, balanced, with balanced tannins and a pleasing and persistent finish. Brolio Riserva 2021 has an intense ruby red color and, on the nose, is a complex wine, with aromas of ripe red fruit and a pleasing woody note. On the palate, it is juicy and persistent, and all the aromas are found in the finish.
Visitors to Wine Paris and the Chianti Classico Collection will be the first to taste the two great ambassadors of the Chianti Classico style of Brolio, the key strengths of which are its intensity, balance, and elegance.
