Castello di Brolio Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2019

Castello di Brolio 2019: a great vintage of our flagship Ricasoli wine that offers extraordinarily sophisticated aromas of red fruits, orange peel, and chocolate, and which unveils soft tannins in the mouth that give it structure and great persistence. The Castello di Brolio 2019 is the result of consistent vine development over the course of a “classic” year, with a cool spring and early summer rains. The healthy and perfectly ripe grapes were brought to the cellar between the second half of September and October 11, and vinified in stainless steel vats at controlled temperature. The wine was then left to refine for 23 months in tonneaux – large 500 liter barrels – only 30% of which were new, and an additional 4 months in the bottle.

The Sangiovese of Castello di Brolio has its origins in the vine rows adjacent to the Castle. These vineyards are especially suited for this type of vine and are planted on three different soils typical of the Chianti Classico: Macigno del Chianti (Arenarie), Scaglia Toscana (Galestro), Monte Morello (Alberese).

In the words of Francesco Ricasoli: “The 2019 vintage represents the first opportunity to use exclusively indigenous (selected) yeasts in the vinification of our Castello di Brolio as well as the Colledilà, Roncicone, and Ceniprimo Chianti Classico Gran Selezione. This innovation allows us to fully respect the characteristics of our territory. The rigor across all stages of production makes the Castello di Brolio 2019 a great spokesperson for the Ricasoli Sangiovese.”
